Norfolk's Haven Hopton Holiday Village Crowned UK's Best for 2026
Haven's Hopton Holiday Village, nestled along the stunning Norfolk coast between Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, has been awarded the prestigious AA Holiday Park of the Year title for 2026. This recognition comes as part of the AA Caravan and Camping Awards for 2025-26, which evaluate parks across the UK in various categories, from small campsites to glamping sites.
Excellence in Leisure and Facilities
Inspectors from the AA granted Hopton a five-star rating, praising its excellent leisure and entertainment facilities for all ages. The park's magnificent seaside setting, attractive countryside backdrop, and outstanding range of on-site amenities were key factors in securing this coveted award. Located in the village of Hopton, the park features 775 static caravans and offers direct access to a sweeping sandy beach, perfect for relaxing on golden sands or strolling along tranquil grassy clifftops.
Affordable Family Getaways
Breaks at Hopton Holiday Village start from just £49 for a three-night stay for a family of four sharing a saver caravan, making it an affordable option for holidaymakers. The park boasts an indoor pool with flumes and a covered outdoor pool open during warmer months, along with activities like six-hole golf, tennis, bike and kart hire, and an inflatable arena in summer. Additional bookable activities include a climbing wall, archery, and arts and crafts.
Entertainment and Dining Options
The park's substantial entertainment complex houses a fish and chip shop, amusements, fast food outlets, and The Marina Bar and Stage, where Haven's entertainment team perform shows. Evening entertainment features The Seaside Squad with games for youngsters, followed by bingo and family-friendly performances. In early April, the park will welcome its own JD Wetherspoon pub, allowing families to enjoy popular 'Spoons favourites while on holiday.
Nearby Attractions and Day Trips
Hopton's location offers easy access to nearby attractions. Just a ten-minute journey away, Great Yarmouth provides vibrant seaside entertainment, including rides at Pleasure Beach, the SEA LIFE Centre, and pier activities. Approximately 15 miles from the park, Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park features attractions for all ages, with plans to expand and add four new rides in 2026. Further north, about a 40-minute drive, Horsey Gap beach is famous for its grey seal colony, especially during pupping season from late October to February, with viewing platforms available for visitors.
The village of Hopton itself retains a traditional seaside character, with fish-and-chip shops, lively amusements, and handy shops, enhancing its appeal as a charming and affordable holiday destination.
