Manchester United's director of football Jason Wilcox has stated that the club are "excited" to wrap up their pre-season tour with a friendly against Italian giants AC Milan at the Tarczynski Arena in Wroclaw, Poland.
Fixture Confirmation
On Tuesday, United officially announced they will play AC Milan in Wroclaw on Saturday, August 15. This match will be the final of six pre-season friendlies for the Red Devils this summer.
Carrick's First Pre-Season
Michael Carrick will oversee his first pre-season as United boss following his permanent appointment last month. However, a dozen senior players are representing their respective nations at the World Cup this summer, meaning several young academy players will get a chance to impress Carrick across the friendlies.
The six matches will be played against Wrexham, Rosenborg, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Leeds, and AC Milan.
Wilcox's Statement
Reacting to the formal confirmation of the AC Milan friendly, Wilcox said: "We're excited to be concluding our pre‑season tour in Wroclaw, Poland, with a big game against AC Milan.
"With fixtures now confirmed across five countries and six fantastic cities, these matches will provide strong preparation for the 2026/27 season and a valuable opportunity to connect with our incredible fans across Europe. Their support will be vital as we build momentum."
European Focus
United's pre-season tours around the world have been hugely commercially successful, but the club will stay in Europe this summer to protect their players from clocking up thousands of air miles. United did not travel abroad for pre-season in 2020 or 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the Reds have played outside their own continent in every other summer since 2003. Excluding the pandemic years, the last time United spent an entire pre-season in Europe was 2002.
