Liverpool Night Market and Minton Tile Event at St George's Hall

Liverpool outdoor night market will arrive at St George's Hall next week. On Thursday, August 27 from 2.30pm until 8.30pm, around 40 artisan traders will transform St George's Hall plateau into a vibrant marketplace.

The traders will offer locally made products ranging from food and sweet treats, arts and crafts, jewellery, gifts and more. Visitors will also be able to enjoy refreshments from St George's Hall's Portico Bar, which will be open throughout the evening. There will also be a special performance from the Liverpool Signing Choir.

Rare Access to the Minton Tile Floor

There will also be a rare opportunity to experience one of St George's Hall's greatest treasures after hours. Renowned for its vivid colours, classical patterns and exceptional state of preservation, the Hall's extraordinary Minton tile floor has mesmerised hundreds of thousands of people over the years. The vast mosaic is made up of around 30,000 handcrafted tiles and has only been uncovered a handful of times over the years.

A wooden covering normally protects the floor and it was last revealed in 2023, attracting more than 20,000 visitors from across the UK. This year, a ramp has also been installed to improve accessibility and enable wheelchair users to access the tiles for the first time.

Exclusive 'Night on the Tiles' Event

An exclusive "Night on the Tiles" event will be held on the same evening as the night market and guests will be able to walk across the extraordinary Victorian floor while enjoying a complimentary drink at different time slots between 4.30pm and 8.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £16.45, with an administration fee, and include admission to the Minton tile floor and either a glass of wine, a bottle of beer, or a soft drink. Tickets are available online and will also be available to purchase on the evening from the Portico Bar, subject to availability.
