Eyemouth Holiday Park in Berwickshire, around a 90-minute drive from Newcastle, has been described as a 'hidden gem' by guests, with clifftop views and proximity to a village that doubled as New Asgard in Avengers: Endgame.
The seaside park, part of the Parkdean Resorts group, was selected by families on Mumsnet as the best budget-friendly option of all Parkdean Resorts sites in the UK. Its smaller size means it does not offer all-inclusive packages, unlike some other locations.
Location and nearby attractions
Mumsnet users singled out the park's 'gorgeous' location, just a short walk from Eyemouth Harbour, as a key reason why it is loved by families, along with its on-site playground, arcade and multi-sports court. The ranking noted that Eyemouth does not have as many facilities as some other Parkdean Resorts sites, including the lack of an on-site pool, although guests can get passes to use the local indoor pool for free.
'Three sandy beaches are easily accessible, and you're a short stroll from pretty Eyemouth harbour with its indie cafes and shops,' Mumsnet writes. 'Treat the kids to a boat trip to see seals or chug along to St Abbs, which doubles as New Asgard in the Avengers: Endgame movie.'
Berwick, the northernmost town in Northumberland, is a 15-minute drive away, with remnants of its medieval past including an ancient castle and imposing town walls. Edinburgh is just over an hour away by car or around an hour and 40 minutes by train.
Guest reviews and ratings
The park has earned an average rating of 4.4 out of five stars on TripAdvisor. One reviewer wrote: 'Incredible atmosphere in the show bar - Ben is a powerhouse entertainer. He kept us all dancing and he was really fun to watch and listen to! We will definitely be returning. The stunning views with the amazing atmosphere makes this place worth it. Hidden gem.'
Another guest said: 'Wow! What an incredible piece of heaven. The grounds, the atmosphere - all spectacular. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice weekend or a full two weeks.' A third visitor praised it as 'genuinely one of the most beautiful settings', adding that 'everywhere you look has some stunning views'.
While staff and location earned high praise, one reviewer remarked: 'The only gripe I would have was with the amusements. Too many machines not working and the grabbers not doing what they should.' Another holidaymaker, part of a party of two adults and four children, said: 'I would 100% recommend Eyemouth Holiday Park. It may be only a small park compared to others but the staff make it that much better.'
