Glasgow Airport has announced two new direct routes to Germany, offering travellers easier access to Frankfurt and Munich. The services, operated by Discover Airlines, part of the Lufthansa Group, will reconnect Glasgow directly with both cities and are expected to boost tourism, business and trade between Scotland and Germany.
New routes and schedules
Flights to Frankfurt will begin on March 29, 2027, operating up to six times a week. The new summer service to Munich will launch on May 16, 2027, with flights operating twice a week.
The routes will also open up connections to the wider Discover Airlines network through Lufthansa Group hubs, giving passengers more options for onward travel.
Economic and tourism benefits
Chris Tibbett, aviation director at AGS Airports, said: "Germany is an incredibly important market for Scotland, supporting tourism, trade, education and business links, and these services significantly strengthen Glasgow Airport's connectivity to one of Europe's largest economies while reconnecting passengers to the extensive Lufthansa Group network beyond."
He added: "There is also a fantastic leisure opportunity. Whether it's a weekend exploring Munich's famous beer gardens, experiencing Frankfurt's vibrant city centre, or welcoming more German visitors to Glasgow and Scotland, these routes create real benefits on both sides."
Tibbett also thanked Discover Airlines, Glasgow City Council and VisitScotland for their support in bringing the services to market.

Frankfurt is one of Germany's major financial and business centres, combining a modern skyline with a historic city centre. Munich is renowned for its architecture, culture and famous festivals, including its beer gardens and historic sights.
Councillor Susan Aitken, leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "This is great news for tourists and business travellers alike." She added that Germany is one of Glasgow's most important international markets, and the new direct services will make it easier for visitors to experience the city while strengthening links with one of Europe's leading economic centres.
Aitken concluded: "This is a wonderful example of how partnership working can help attract investment and create new opportunities for our city." The routes are also expected to make it easier for German visitors to experience Glasgow and travel onwards around Scotland.
