With over fourteen major film and television adaptations in recent decades, Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights stands as one of literature's most frequently reimagined novels. The village of Haworth in West Yorkshire has long capitalised on its profound connections to the Brontë sisters, evolving from a former industrial settlement into a premier literary tourism destination, anchored by the renowned Brontë Parsonage Museum.
A Cinematic Sanctuary in Brontë Country
Now, as excitement mounts for director Emerald Fennell's dark and contemporary retelling of the classic tale, devotees can experience an extraordinary opportunity: an immersive overnight stay in Cathy Earnshaw's opulent Thrushcross Grange bedroom. This unique Airbnb experience, located in West Yorkshire, is being offered completely free of charge to three lucky couples.
Inside the Lavish Film-Inspired Bedroom
I was granted an exclusive preview of this remarkable room, situated on the grounds of the historic Jacobean manor, Holdsworth House in Halifax. This very hotel accommodated stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi during the film's production. Nestled at the heart of Brontë Country, where much of the movie was shot, the location is a mere twenty-minute drive from Haworth, the Brontë sisters' home.
In stark contrast to the authors' modest parsonage, Cathy's bedroom at Thrushcross Grange is a sprawling, luxurious space. Guests enter through an unassuming stone building opposite the main hotel, which reveals a candle-lit hallway adorned with rich red velvet.
Another doorway opens into Cathy's expansive bedroom, featuring grand windows and decorated in opulent shades of pink and gold. The room powerfully channels Cathy's intense spirit, offering visitors a deeply personal window into her turbulent inner world. It almost becomes a character in itself—a feverish ode to Cathy as envisioned by her husband, Edgar Linton.
The design is meticulously detailed, with skin-toned walls and layered textures that saturate the space with her perceived presence. Subtle nods include strands of hair woven into a table and vein-like patterns pulsing through cushions.
An Immersive Themed Experience
Across the road, within Holdsworth House itself, the dining room of Thrushcross Grange is brought vividly to life. Dressed in silver-toned finery and styled to mirror the film's aesthetic, guests will be treated to a sumptuous candle-lit dinner featuring rich Yorkshire dishes, echoing the opulent meals depicted on screen.
The experience extends far beyond the bedroom. The curated stay is designed for couples to "fall in love again and again" and includes a scenic horseback ride across the iconic moorland countryside, an indulgent afternoon tea, and an intimate listening session of the film's soundtrack, which features music by Charli XCX. A visit to the seminal Brontë Parsonage Museum, celebrating the sisters' literary legacy, is also part of the itinerary.
Booking Details and Local Allure
Cathy's Bedroom will be available for three separate stays for up to two guests each, across multiple days between February 27th and March 4th. The entire experience is free, encompassing breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Bookings open on February 20th via Airbnb on a first-come, first-served basis.
The area is a perfect base for exploring Brontë Country, including the cobbled streets of Haworth. Beyond Wuthering Heights, the region boasts a strong screen heritage, with productions like Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack, and Last Tango in Halifax filmed locally. Nearby attractions include Shibden Hall, the home of Anne Lister, Hebden Bridge, and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
Dana Nussbaum, co-head of global motion pictures marketing at Warner Bros Pictures, stated: "We are so excited... to give travel buffs who are true romantics the chance to live it for themselves." This unique initiative blends cinematic romance with the authentic landscapes, culture, and heritage of West Yorkshire, offering an unforgettable immersion into one of literature's greatest love stories.
