Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar enjoyed a hearty Italian meal at Al Dente Cucina Italiana in Newcastle city centre this weekend, becoming the latest Magpies player to visit the restaurant.

The restaurant, which has accumulated numerous five-star reviews, has become a popular spot for Newcastle United first-team players. Staff at Al Dente shared a photo of Schar on the restaurant's Instagram page, with a caption reading: "was a pleasure welcoming @fabianschaer to Al Dente this afternoon! Grazie for joining us, Fabian! Wishing you and @nufc all best for the rest of the season."
Regulars at the restaurant responded positively to the photo, with one commenting: "Great place and lovely food" and another writing: "Bellissima."
Recent visits and team form
Schar's visit came weeks after teammate Joe Willock dined at Al Dente, days after scoring the winner against Millwall in the Carabao Cup game at The Den. During the festive period last season, Malick Thiaw also enjoyed a meal there, and former Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali, now at Spurs, was a big fan of the restaurant.
Newcastle returned to winning ways in the Premier League by beating Hull at St James' Park last Saturday, climbing to 9th in the table ahead of the international break. With no Premier League matches this weekend, players not involved in Euro qualifiers had time off.

Dan Burn also appeared on Instagram this weekend, having travelled to Northumberland for a meal at Pine, the Michelin-acclaimed restaurant at Vallum Farm, which Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker are known to love.
