Europe's Sunniest City Near UK: 19C November Escape

One of Europe's sunniest cities, Cordoba in southern Spain, offers average daily temperatures of 19C in November, making it a viable escape from autumn chill for UK travellers. The Andalusian city is about three hours from the UK and enjoys up to six hours of daily sunshine during the month.

Sunshine and Warmth in November

According to travel rental platform Holidu, Cordoba has been named one of Europe's sunniest spots for the second consecutive year, boasting an average of 266 sunshine hours per month. The city is located in southern Spain, roughly an hour by train from popular destinations such as Malaga and Seville.

While daytime temperatures hover around 19C, nights drop to approximately 8C, meaning visitors will still need some layers for evenings out, though conditions remain generally warmer than typical UK weather.

Attractions and Atmosphere

Despite its proximity to major holiday hotspots, Cordoba is not overrun with tourists. Key sights include the Roman Bridge and the Calleja de las Flores (Alley of the Flowers), a street of whitewashed buildings decorated with colourful flower pots. The city offers a laidback pace, suitable for wandering, long lunches, and a slower city break.

Once the capital of the Moorish Empire in the 10th century, Cordoba features historic architecture such as the Mezquita, a Mosque-Cathedral with intact mosaics. The Torre de la Calahorra, a medieval gate tower now serving as a 'living museum', provides artefacts and views over the old town from its top.
