Dubrovnik Crowned Europe's Safest Seaside City

A new study by tour operator Riviera Travel has named Dubrovnik, Croatia, as the safest city in Europe. The analysis considered current crime levels and the increase in crime over the past five years to calculate an overall safety score.

Dubrovnik topped the list with a safety score of 44.14. The city recorded a crime level of 8.76 on Numbeo, classified as 'very low', and a crime increase score of 35.38, also deemed 'low'. Known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', Dubrovnik is a UNESCO World Heritage site famed for its medieval architecture and charming Old Town.

Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, came second with a safety score of 55.81. Like Dubrovnik, Tallinn is a UNESCO-listed medieval city offering a range of cafes and restaurants. Warsaw, Poland, ranked third with a score of 60.19, maintaining a 'very low' crime level despite a 'moderate' increase in crime over five years.

Prague, Czech Republic, took fourth place with a score of 60.88, while Kraków, Poland, rounded out the top five with a score of 64.31. The study also highlighted Amsterdam (sixth), Munich (seventh), Reykjavik (eighth), Zurich (ninth), and Budapest (tenth) as safe destinations.
