Dingwall, a town in the Scottish Highlands, has been named the best base for fans of BBC's The Traitors, sitting just 24 minutes from the castle where the show is filmed.
The town is close to many of the filming locations seen on the series, and a recent study from SMC Coach Hire crowned it the 'best place for fans' of the hit show. According to the study, Dingwall offers around 32 places to eat and drink, as well as 11 places to stay.
What Dingwall has to offer
While Dingwall may not be known for its beauty or attractions, it does have a few highlights, including the Dingwall Museum and the GlenWyvis Distillery, which is about a 10-minute drive away. The Tulloch Castle Hotel is also a firm favourite with visitors, and Lastminute.com offers stays at Dingwall hotels from £41 a night.
The Traitors, filmed in the Scottish Highlands, showcases lochs, forests, and dramatic scenery that tempt viewers to book a getaway. For fans looking for a budget-friendly trip, Dingwall offers a convenient base near the show's key locations.
Getting close to the castle and filming spots
The actual castle where the series takes place is Ardross Castle, a 19th-century property with formal gardens and 100 acres of parkland. It is not open to the public as a hotel or visitor attraction; access is limited to those filming a TV show or film with permission, or those booking the venue for a wedding.
Missions from the show are filmed on the estate and around Alness, Inverness, Loch Glass, Cairngorms National Park, and the Rothiemurchus Estate, all of which are open to the public and less than a half hour's drive from Dingwall.
For a taste of where the cast actually stays during filming, visitors can consider the Courtyard by Marriott Inverness Airport, which serves as the cast's accommodation during production. Budget options in Inverness city centre include Travelodge and Premier Inn hotels.
