Costa Brava: Spain's 'Hidden Paradise' That Rivals Ibiza

As summer temperatures in the UK are set to reach 30°C, many Britons are seeking sun abroad, but holiday habits are shifting. Research suggests fewer UK visitors are heading to popular hotspots in Spain, Turkey, and Greece, with many turning to lesser-known destinations instead.

A TikTok account has been promoting the Costa Brava as 'Spain's real paradise', urging holidaymakers to swap Ibiza and Marbella for this hidden gem. The video showcased a stunning sandy beach with crystal-clear waters that 'looks straight out of the Caribbean', along with secluded coves, medieval towns, castles, and coastal walking trails.

The Costa Brava, meaning 'Wild Coast', is a rugged stretch of shoreline in Catalonia, north-eastern Spain, running from Blanes to the French border. It is celebrated for its dramatic cliffs, medieval villages, and its connection to surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. Popular bases include Calella de Palafrugell for quaint coves, Tossa de Mar for its medieval walled old town, Cadaqués for a bohemian vibe, and Lloret de Mar for nightlife.

The best time to visit is during the shoulder months of May, June, and September, when conditions are warm and crowds are fewer. July and August are the busiest, while winter (November to March) sees many coastal businesses closed.
