A crafty cat from Swindon has been caught red-pawed after her secret second dinner habit was exposed by a note from a local Toby Carvery. Eleven-year-old Siberian cat Tula had been sneaking off to the pub for roast dinners after being fed at home, but her two-timing plan unravelled when she returned with a paper collar around her neck.
The note, written by concerned pub staff, read: 'Does this cat have a home?' with 'Always at Toby Carvery' on the reverse. Owner Nicole Clark couldn't stop laughing when she discovered the message, revealing that Tula had been meowing at staff and customers for food until someone eventually shared their roast. The cat had been visiting the pub regularly ever since.
Ms Clark headed to the Toby Carvery to explain that Tula was not homeless, and even encountered the cat sitting by the patio tables, seemingly heartbroken that her double dinner days were over. Sharing the story on Facebook, Ms Clark wrote: 'I can imagine she's been trying for the sympathy vote in the hope of getting some meat! She has a lovely home and spends every night with us but thank you Toby customers/workers for looking out for her!'
This is not the first time Tula has been caught scrounging for extra meals; she previously visited a local old people's home where residents gave her meat paste from their sandwiches. Social media users were amused by the tale, with one commenting: 'Omg that’s hilarious. I've got visions of her lining up ready for her Yorkshire and choice of meat.' Another said: 'What a genius - hanging at the Toby... great scrap opportunities!'
The story follows a similar incident where a cat owner was left mortified after their feline returned home with a whole cooked chicken in its mouth, leaving them too embarrassed to ask neighbours if they were missing their Sunday roast.
