A British tourist is fighting for her life after falling from a hotel balcony in Pattaya, Thailand, breaking her back in 24 places. Beth Klug, from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, plunged from the fourth-floor balcony of her hotel in the early hours of March 15.
Paramedics found the 22-year-old moaning in pain on shrubs at the side of the 22-storey building. She was unable to move her arms and had landed on a concrete plant box. A hotel security guard reported hearing a loud sound and discovering the injured woman crying for help.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the cause of the accident. A police report is required for her travel insurance to cover treatment and repatriation. Friends in the UK are raising funds to support her medical care and return home.
Beth's friend Kim Lyall said: 'She's in a lot of pain. She can't move her arms at all. They shattered. Let's pray we get her home soon.' Another friend, Anna Mohammed, described Beth's injuries as severe, including a broken back in 24 places and an inability to use her hands.
The Foreign Office has been involved in expediting the process. Beth remains in a hospital in Pattaya, where she is receiving treatment for her serious injuries.
