An 87-year-old British man has been found dead after swimming in the sea at a popular holiday resort in Cyprus. The incident occurred on Friday at Coral Bay in Paphos, a beach known for its calm and shallow waters.
The man was discovered floating unconscious in the water at around 1:30pm. Other holidaymakers rushed to pull him to safety and called an ambulance. He was taken to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
It is not yet known whether the elderly man was visiting the beach alone or with relatives. The beach is a popular spot for families and beginners due to its clear and calm waters.
This tragedy follows a series of incidents involving British tourists in Cyprus. In August, a British tourist was found dead in his hotel room in Ayia Napa, with no criminal activity suspected. In July, another British man died after falling from a third-floor balcony of a hotel in Paphos.
