Home to just 4,300 residents, the parish sits on Chichester Harbour and offers charming walks across the quay and into the surrounding meadows.
A hidden gem near London
Just a two-hour drive from London, Bosham has gained popularity through viral TikTok videos. It can also be reached by train via Chichester or Havant, with advance fares between £10 and £20, while flexible tickets may cost over £40. Visitors can explore scenic walks near the water, the Holy Trinity church, the Art & Craft Centre, and the nearby Fishbourne Palace with its Roman artefacts.
Local eateries include The Anchor Bleu, known for its ale, the Bosham Inn for pub food, and the Shoreside Cafe offering pastries and waterfront views.
Daily tidal flooding
At high tide every day, parts of Bosham are submerged. Roads and paths along the harbour disappear underwater, forcing alternative routes. Flooding results from natural sea flooding during storms, exceptional tides, and rainwater from surrounding fields. The village's drains are dated, and committees work with local authorities to mitigate issues.

Social media user @eli_radu30 described Bosham as having 'Stunning harbor views, historic charm, and a peaceful coastal walk,' adding it is 'The perfect day trip for relaxation and adventure!' Another visitor, @ourhampshireandbeyond, shared: 'The harbour has photogenic cottages all around it as well as some modern builds and the architecture to show. The tides actually flood the high street regularly.' He noted that at low tide, he could cut across the quay and take the Chichester harbour coastal path, and on return, the high tide had submerged pathways and roads.
While Bosham remains relatively undiscovered compared to overtouristed spots like Venice, nearby Margate in Thanet recorded 4.6 million visitors in 2023, a growth of 18% on 2021, with day trip spending up 65%. For now, Bosham retains its peaceful charm, but visitors are advised not to park too close to the water.
