Which?'s inspectors visited hundreds of UK hotels over the past three years to compile a list of 17 of the very best seaside stays. While many are located in Cornwall, Devon, and Dorset, Bike and Boot in North Yorkshire stands out as a closer option for those in the North West.

Bike and Boot: A Dog-Friendly Gem

Which? describes Bike and Boot as a 'starchily traditional Georgian building at the posh end of Scarborough’s long seafront' that 'conceals what’s probably the most dog-friendly hotel we’ve ever visited.' The hotel features a basement where guests can wash their dogs and store bikes or surfboards, and it even has its own mini cinema with velvet seats.

"Upstairs has a trendy coffee-shop vibe, with sea-green and grey corridors, and bikes hanging on the lounge wall," says Which?, giving the hotel 3.5 out of 5 stars. Guests can enjoy sea views from the Bareca cafe.

A typical Saturday night in peak summer costs from around £121 for a room, while a large double sea view room for four people costs around £370 bed and breakfast.
