Ambassador Cruise Line is set to return to the Port of Tyne in North Shields next month, offering five distinct European itineraries between August and September 2026. The line-up includes a Baltic Sea adventure visiting Gothenburg and Copenhagen, and a themed 70s, 80s, and 90s cruise stopping at Amsterdam and Bruges. Ambassador has also launched a summer sale with up to 20% off selected trips.
Summer Sale and No-Fly Options
Ambassador is one of two cruise lines operating no-fly holidays from the Port of Tyne, alongside Fred Olsen. Fred Olsen has one remaining 2026 cruise—the 14-night European Cities & Scenic Rivers trip, priced from £2,099 per person, departing in September. This journey includes stops across France and Belgium, with visits to museums, art galleries, castles, World War II sites, and local wineries.
Ambassador's first offering is the Weekend Escape to Amsterdam, a four-night trip in August from £549 per person. For a shorter getaway, DFDS runs daily Newcastle to Amsterdam Mini Cruises from the Port of Tyne, currently offering up to 50% off in their summer sale.
Itinerary Details and Pricing
The Summer Fjordland cruise, departing at the end of August, has already sold out. Next is the Coastlines of France, Belgium & Holland holiday, setting sail on September 3 for 12 nights, priced from £1,599 per person. This trip explores Cherbourg, St Malo, and Honfleur in France, then Bruges and Amsterdam, focusing on history, local cuisine, and coastal scenery.
On September 15, the Gateway to the Baltic Sea cruise departs for seven nights, visiting Gothenburg, Copenhagen, and Aarhus—described as a 'cultural gem' on Denmark's Jutland peninsula. Priced from £1,519 per person, availability is limited and potential passengers are advised to call for last-minute spots.
Themed Cruise and Final Departure
The final Ambassador cruise from Newcastle in 2026 is Decks and Decades: A 70s, 80s & 90s Celebration Theme Cruise, departing September 22 for four nights from £431 per person. This music-themed holiday features three themed evenings with live acts, spanning disco and denim of the 70s, power ballads of the 80s, and Britpop of the 90s. It includes stops at Ijmuiden and Zeebrugge for day trips to Amsterdam and Bruges, but finishes in Bristol rather than returning to North Shields. This cruise is part of the summer sale, offering 20% off all cabins.
According to Ambassador Cruise Line, the summer sale provides significant savings on select itineraries, making these no-fly holidays more accessible for British travellers seeking European adventures from the Port of Tyne.
