Nikki and Helen, best friends from Warwickshire, rejected a property just minutes into the viewing on a repeat episode of A Place in the Sun aired on Monday, June 22. Host Leah Charles-King expressed her disappointment after the pair walked out of a four-bedroom home in Costa de la Luz, Andalucia, calling it the 'worst' start to a house hunt.
Budget and Wish List
The duo had a budget of £150,000 and were searching for a holiday home they could eventually relocate to permanently. Nikki had already sold her UK home. Their wish list included three bedrooms, ideally two bathrooms, 'something with soul', and ample outdoor space for entertaining. They wanted to immerse themselves in Andalusian culture and pursue their passion for horseriding.
Immediate Rejection
Upon arriving at the first property, which was on the market for just under £166,000, Nikki and Helen immediately expressed dissatisfaction. 'This is not really the location we were looking for,' they told Leah. Helen added, 'It's not for me,' comparing it to a 'holiday complex'. Despite Leah's attempt to change their minds, they declined to see the rest of the property. Leah said, 'Let's see if we can change your mind on the inside, but if nothing else, at least it's a great exercise for me to see what you really don't like.'
After the rejection, Leah admitted to the camera, 'I've had worst starts to house hunts... no scratch that, I actually don't think I have. But to be fair, I'm a bit disappointed as I thought that this house offered Nikki and Helen loads of charm and space in a great location.'
No Purchase Made
Despite viewing other options, Nikki and Helen did not secure a holiday home on the show. They made one offer of £168,000 on a property they were interested in, but the owners would only sell for £176,784. The pair said, 'We couldn't, it's way over our budget.' They vowed to continue their search within their budget. Leah commented, 'We were so close to finding that dream home for besties Helen and Nikki. But sadly on this occasion, it just wasn't to be. The good news though is that they found a part of Spain they've fallen in love with and I wish them all the very best on their continued search.'
