Liverpool are in the market for new signings this summer, and RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande is one player who has been linked with a move to Anfield under new manager Andoni Iraola.
Yan Diomande World Cup Impact
The Ivorian winger caught the eye as his nation made a victorious start to their World Cup campaign against Ecuador. The RB Leipzig talent could be among several fresh faces at Liverpool.
Cote d'Ivoire boss Emerse Fae made light of the Liverpool speculation surrounding Yan Diomande but acknowledged the connections. The winger has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, though RB Leipzig are demanding more than £80 million for the 19-year-old.
"When we were in France, during the preparation, journalists told me he was about to sign with PSG," Fae said. "Here, they tell me he's about to sign with Liverpool! I don't know, but for now, he will focus on the World Cup, and then afterwards, he can think about the rest of his career. Yan - what can I say? I can't put it into words. He's very talented, but beyond the talent, he's very young and he'll improve."
Andoni Iraola to Gain from 'Fresh Recruit'
The appointment of new Liverpool manager Iraola should offer certain players an opportunity to make a clean start following a challenging 2025/26 campaign. Foremost among those is Stefan Bajcetic, who failed to feature for even a single minute due to persistent fitness problems. Bajcetic has returned to the training ground, where he will follow a tailored programme as he seeks to regain match fitness.
The Spain Under-21 midfielder last appeared in May 2025 while on loan at Las Palmas and is set to enter the final year of his Liverpool deal. Former Reds manager Arne Slot previously said: "If you are that young and you've been out for so long, the only thing you need is playing time. He could have playing time over here, but we've got six or seven very good midfielders, so his playing time here will always be more limited than we expect him to play at Salzburg."
Liverpool have already completed their first acquisition of the summer transfer window, with Jeremy Jacquet set to join from Rennes following a £60 million agreement, though he will not feature under the manager who sanctioned his signing. Arne Slot was sacked at the end of May, with Andoni Iraola replacing him in the dugout. The new chief will undoubtedly have ambitions regarding the transfer market, but the recruitment department has not ceased monitoring the likes of Yan Diomande.
