Swansea City defender Josh Key is reportedly attracting interest from several Championship rivals this summer as his contract situation draws attention.
Interest from Three Clubs
According to Football League World, Preston North End, Portsmouth, and Queens Park Rangers are all monitoring the 26-year-old, who made 30 appearances for the Swans last season. The right-back is entering the final year of his contract, and his situation has reportedly caught the eye of outsiders.
Form and Recovery
Key endured a difficult run of form at times last season but showed promising signs of returning to the impressive performances seen earlier in his Swansea career. Head coach Vitor Matos often deployed Ethan Galbraith in the right-back role last term but has previously indicated Key has a role in his plans.
Speaking after Key's winning goal against Portsmouth in March, Matos said: "That's the Josh we all know and we all want, so I am really happy to have him back. Josh is a brilliant professional, a wonderful kid with the right mentality. It was just a matter of time and a matter of confidence. It's not only players - I think all human beings have lows and ups in life. It's always about how you can find the resilience to come back again."
Background
Key signed from Exeter City in 2023 and was a regular starter in his first two seasons, making a total of 74 Championship appearances in that period. His future at the club remains uncertain as the summer transfer window approaches.
