Manchester United are reportedly in talks over a move for one midfielder, while a £43m bid is said to have been tabled for another as the Red Devils prepare for a Champions League return.
Midfield Reinforcements Needed
Michael Carrick could receive a transfer boost as Manchester United are ready for a hectic summer. Fresh signings are required as Carrick's squad gears up for a Champions League campaign next season. United recognise their necessity for midfield reinforcements following Casemiro's exit at the conclusion of last season. The Red Devils have secured an agreement for another Brazilian midfielder, Ederson, though additional arrivals are anticipated this summer transfer window.
Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni has been repeatedly connected with a switch to United. Spanish media reports have suggested the France ace could depart Los Blancos this summer after four years at the Santiago Bernabeu. Meanwhile, World Cup star Martin Baturina has surfaced as a rumoured target for United following his goal for Croatia against England. Here's all the latest news from Old Trafford.
Aurelien Tchouameni Meeting Held
Reports have emerged that United have previously held discussions with Aurelien Tchouameni's representatives. The French international was embroiled in a confrontation with Real Madrid team-mate Federico Valverde before the end of last season, raising questions over his future at the Spanish club. Nevertheless, Madrid Zone reports United conducted talks with the player's representatives prior to the incident with Valverde. It is claimed the club sought to assess the 26-year-old's situation.
Spanish outlet AS has reported Real Madrid are willing to offload a key midfielder as part of the squad's summer overhaul under new manager Jose Mourinho. Tchouameni is named as one of the potential departures to help Los Blancos raise funds. In addition, Mourinho's team are among those keen on West Ham's Mateus Fernandes, who is also being monitored by United, reports the Mirror. The Spanish heavyweights have already secured deals for full-backs Marc Cucurella and Denzel Dumfries, as well as snapping up free agents Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva.
Martin Baturina Transfer Bid Submitted
Croatian midfielder Martin Baturina has been linked with a switch to United. The 23-year-old racked up 34 appearances for Serie A outfit Como before participating in the World Cup, where he netted Croatia's opening goal in a 4-2 loss to England. Sky Italia has suggested United are among the Premier League clubs interested in the midfielder. The club reportedly face competition from Aston Villa, with Baturina previously attracting interest from Leeds United and Bayern Munich. The report further states an undisclosed club submitted a £43m bid, which was turned down by Como. Baturina moved to the Italian side from Dinamo Zagreb last year, contributing eight goals and four assists from an attacking midfield position.
