Manchester United's new signing Andrey Santos is expected to make his debut against Wrexham on Saturday afternoon. United formally announced they had signed Santos in a £50million deal at the beginning of the week.
Midfield Trio Likely to Start
The Brazilian is in line to feature against the Championship side and is likely to be joined by Toby Collyer and Mason Mount in midfield. Collyer spent the season on loan in the second tier across two different spells with West Brom and Hull, and a decision will be made on his future once United finalise their midfield options ahead of 2026/2027.
Mount will get to play in his preferred attacking midfield position against Wrexham. He was used in a deeper midfield role by Michael Carrick at the end of last season, with Bruno Fernandes as the No.10.
Goalkeeper and Defence
Radek Vitek is most likely to be selected between the sticks. Vitek is set to leave the club this summer, on a loan or a permanent deal, but is expected to start over Tom Heaton.
Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Ayden Heaven and Luke Shaw are a logical back four with a view to rotating the team at half-time. The early pre-season fixtures are associated with wholesale changes at the break.
Attack Options
In attack, Shea Lacey could get a chance on the right wing. He came off the bench on the final day of the season against Brighton, and first-team coaches believe he can contribute to the squad in the new campaign.
Joshua Zirkzee could start down the middle in the absence of Benjamin Sesko, while Bryan Mbeumo will fill the remaining starting spot.
