Man United Get Clear Response After Barcelona Left-Back Approach
Man United Told Balde Is Happy at Barcelona After Contact

Manchester United have been told that Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde is happy at the Nou Camp after making 'calls' to assess his availability. The club are looking to sign a new left-back before the transfer window closes, with Carlos Baleba also being pursued.

United's Left-Back Search

With Patrick Dorgu seen as an option for further forward and youngster Harry Amass expected to leave, manager Michael Carrick currently has only Luke Shaw in the position. The 31-year-old has previously struggled with injuries but remained fit throughout last season.

United also considered Newcastle United's Lewis Hall, but the Magpies are determined not to sell another key player this window after already selling Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes. A deal for Hall is therefore very unlikely unless the player pushes to leave and United make an offer Newcastle cannot turn down.

Balde's Situation at Barcelona

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that United have made 'calls' to the club and the player's camp over the last few days to assess the possibility of a transfer, although the full-back is said to be happy at the Nou Camp.

The 22-year-old was a regular pick for Hansi Flick last season, playing 42 games in all competitions. Separate hamstring and muscle injuries saw him miss a total of 10 games across the season.

Barcelona have completed the signing of Joao Cancelo, who returned after spending the second half of the season on loan with the club. He will provide more competition to Balde at left-back alongside Gerard Martin.

Other Targets and Midfield Priority

United have also been linked with Arsenal full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, but Gunners' boss Mikel Arteta has outlined his confidence that the 19-year-old will remain at the Emirates Stadium beyond this summer.

Carrick's priority in the window has been strengthening his midfield options. The club have completed the signings of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for a combined £85 million. They are also closing in on a deal for long-term target Baleba, with a bid of £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons submitted to Brighton, although there is still work to do to finalise the deal.
