Manchester United are pressing ahead with a midfield rebuild following the departures of Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund, with Atalanta's Ederson on the verge of joining the club. Meanwhile, captain Bruno Fernandes has informed his teammates that he intends to remain at Old Trafford, according to talkSPORT.
Fernandes Commits to United Amid Saudi Interest
Bruno Fernandes has told his Manchester United teammates that he plans to stay at the club, talkSPORT reports. A definitive decision on the captain's future is not expected until after the World Cup, but there is little concern he could leave. The 31-year-old attracted interest from Saudi clubs last summer but opted to remain, and fresh reports of interest from Al Nassr have not changed his stance. Fernandes' decision is driven by family considerations, making a move unlikely.
Fernandes has started both of Portugal's World Cup group matches, providing an assist in the 5-0 win over Uzbekistan. Portugal need a win against Colombia to top the group but are almost certain to advance even if they lose.
Nmecha Asking Price Set at £86m
Germany international Felix Nmecha is a midfield target for United as they seek to replace Casemiro and potentially Manuel Ugarte. However, Borussia Dortmund have set a high price tag. According to Kicker, Nmecha's contract contains no release clause, and the club values him at £86 million. The 25-year-old came through Manchester City's academy and represented England at youth level, making him a homegrown player, which could appeal to United.
Nmecha has been a regular for Germany under Julian Nagelsmann during the World Cup, starting all three group matches and scoring in the 7-1 win over Curacao.
Other Transfer Activity
United have already confirmed several departures, including Rasmus Hojlund and Casemiro, while Andre Onana will spend another season on loan at Trabzonspor. Marcus Rashford's loan at Barcelona did not result in a permanent move, leaving his future uncertain. The club is expected to make further signings as the transfer window progresses.
