Victor Munoz Set for Anfield Move
Victor Munoz is on his way to Liverpool, but the Reds are not stopping there. Munoz is set for an Anfield move after Liverpool swooped in and hijacked the transfer when it looked as if he was heading for Newcastle. Munoz has been dubbed as one of the breakout La Liga stars this season, and the 22-year-old spent time in both Barcelona and Real Madrid's youth set-ups. He is expected to join as part of a £34million deal with Osasuna and is currently with the Spain squad at the World Cup in North America.
Yan Diomande Also Targeted
Munoz is not the only World Cup star that Liverpool are said to be targeting, with Yan Diomande high up on their wishlist. The Ivorian has dazzled for RB Leipzig this season and is being linked with a big move as a result. Liverpool are positioning themselves as a candidate, with Ben Jacobs reporting the 20-time champions are optimistic about their chances. Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be in the mix as well, with the report suggesting a deal could even be closed during the ongoing World Cup.
The Ivory Coast manager was asked about the speculation during the build-up to their opening match against Ecuador. Emerse Fae said: "When we were in France during the preparations, journalists told me he was about to sign with PSG. Here, they tell me he's about to sign with Liverpool. For now, he will focus on the World Cup - afterwards, he can think about the rest of his career."
Diomande's Impressive Season
Across 33 league appearances for RB Leipzig, Diomande registered 20 goal contributions and is said to be valued in excess of £100m. Liverpool have already held talks about bringing the 19-year-old to the club and are expected to increase their efforts in due course.
Attack a Focal Point for Liverpool
Attack is once again a focal point for Liverpool in the transfer window, having waved goodbye to Mohamed Salah at the end of the season. What is more, Hugo Ekitike is expected to be out injured until close to Christmas time, meaning the six-time European champions could be left light. There was a sense that even after signing Alexander Isak and Ekitike last summer, Liverpool were still short in forward areas. They let Luis Diaz join Bayern Munich, while the death of Diogo Jota also had an impact.
