Liverpool have agreed a fee of around £740,000 with Atletico Nacional for attacking midfielder Samuel Martinez, beating Bayern Munich to his signature. The 17-year-old will remain at the Colombian side for another 12 months and join Liverpool in summer 2027 after turning 18. The Reds have also been alerted to the availability of Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, as the 18-year-old Senegal star is set to leave the French club this summer.
Martinez Deal Details
According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have won the race for Martinez, who was also wanted by Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund. Bayern Munich were strong contenders, with scouts likening his style to Brazilian legend Kaka. The German champions had a trump card in agent Daniel Neumuller, who is from Bavaria, but Liverpool prevailed. The fee is approximately £740,000.
Mbaye Available for Transfer
Ibrahim Mbaye, one of Europe's most exciting young talents, has been made available by PSG. Fabrizio Romano reports that super agent Jorge Mendes is in control of his future. Premier League and Bundesliga clubs are on standby. Liverpool are in the market for wide players after Mohamed Salah's departure, making them an attractive destination. The Reds' hopes of signing Yan Diomande have faded, as the Ivorian reportedly prefers a move to PSG and is willing to stay at RB Leipzig for another season.
Pre-Season Underway
Andoni Iraola's Liverpool are in crucial pre-season preparations after a torrid title defence. The Reds face Sunderland in Nashville next weekend, followed by friendlies against Wrexham and Leeds United in the US, then home games against Monaco and Como. The Premier League opener is at Newcastle on August 23. Two new players have joined: Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes and Victor Munoz from Osasuna, but more reinforcements are needed for a title challenge.
