Lepas L6 SUV Arrives with Groundbreaking 700-Mile Hybrid Range and Full Electric Version

The latest Chinese automotive brand to enter the British market, Lepas, has officially revealed its new L6 SUV, featuring both plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrains. The vehicle is scheduled to launch in the UK in late 2026, marking an ambitious expansion for Chery's growing portfolio of brands in Europe.

Design and Technology Focus at Milan Design Week

European audiences are getting their first look at the Lepas L6 during Milan Design Week, a strategic choice that underscores the brand's emphasis on sophisticated design and cutting-edge technology. Lepas positions itself as a design-led newcomer, with the L6 specifically targeting the competitive family SUV segment through a blend of premium aesthetics and advanced features.

The exterior design draws inspiration from the agility and form of a leopard, featuring sculpted bodywork intended to convey precision and movement. Distinctive front LED lighting mimics a leopard's eye, while overall proportions aim to deliver a more upscale appearance than its expected price point might suggest.

Powertrain Options: Super Hybrid and All-Electric

Two distinct versions of the L6 have been confirmed for the UK market. The first utilizes Chery's proprietary "Super Hybrid" plug-in hybrid technology, combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and battery to achieve a remarkable claimed total driving range exceeding 700 miles.

The second variant is a fully electric model equipped with a 67kWh battery, offering an estimated range of 270 miles on a single charge. Both versions are expected to support rapid-charging capabilities, with the electric model capable of charging from 30 to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes.

Platform and Safety Features

The L6 is constructed on Chery's new modular New Energy Vehicle platform, engineered to accommodate both hybrid and fully electric configurations. This architecture has been developed with European driving conditions in mind, prioritizing a balance of efficiency, comfort, and performance.

Inside the cabin, Lepas promises an "intelligent, connected cabin" equipped with next-generation driver assistance systems. The engineering is designed to meet global five-star safety standards, though full UK specifications will be confirmed closer to the launch date.

Brand Strategy and UK Market Ambitions

Lepas becomes the fourth Chery brand to enter the UK, following Omoda, Jaecoo, and Chery itself. The Jaecoo 7 model has already gained significant traction among British buyers, becoming the UK's best-selling car in March of this year due to its combination of Range-Rover-like styling, advanced technology, and competitive pricing.

Ray Wang, LEPAS UK Managing Director, commented on the brand's strategy: "The LEPAS L6 marks an exciting step for our brand in Europe and the UK market. Combining our proprietary LEPAS Super Hybrid and fully electric powertrains, the LEPAS L6 delivers exceptional efficiency, impressive range, and rapid charging—all tailored for British roads."

Wang emphasized the vehicle's technological integration, describing it as "as clever as your smartphone" with intelligent technology woven into every journey. The brand's motto, "Here's to Elegance," reflects its aspiration for globally shared elegant living through automotive design.

The L6 will serve as the second model from Lepas in the UK, following the previously confirmed L8 plug-in hybrid. This dual-model approach demonstrates Chery's commitment to expanding its presence in the competitive British automotive market through innovative powertrain options and design-focused vehicles.
