Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is prepared to depart the Emirates Stadium after just one season, with the club already identifying a potential successor. The 25-year-old joined the Gunners from Chelsea for £5 million last summer, serving as backup to David Raya.
Limited appearances but praised by Arteta
Kepa made only one Premier League appearance during Arsenal's title-winning campaign, playing the final day against Crystal Palace. However, he featured in every Carabao Cup and FA Cup match, totaling 12 appearances across all competitions. Manager Mikel Arteta previously commended the Spaniard's professionalism and contributions.
According to Sky Sports, Kepa is open to moving on this summer in search of a new challenge. While he is not in a rush to leave, he will consider any suitable offers that benefit both him and his family.
Meslier identified as replacement
Should Kepa depart, Arsenal will require a reliable number two. The club holds 'strong interest' in Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier. The Frenchman lost his starting spot at Leeds last season and is out of contract this summer, making him available on a free transfer.
Arteta's summer plans
Arteta aims to make at least four signings this summer, targeting a right-back, central midfielder, left winger, and striker. Several departures from the title-winning squad are also expected. Leandro Trossard has received a bid from Turkish side Besiktas, while Gabriel Jesus has hinted at a potential move to Italy.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Jesus said: 'I grew up watching Serie A and dreamed of playing in Italy. Scoring two goals at San Siro against Inter was like making that dream come true. I don’t know my future, I’m working now and we’ll see what happens with Arsenal.'
