GTA 6 Scalpers Sell Pre-Orders on eBay at Inflated Prices

Scalpers are selling Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders on eBay at significantly inflated prices, even though the game remains widely available through standard retail channels. Listings on the auction site show copies for PlayStation 5 priced at £83.99 and Xbox Series X/S versions at £95.99, with one listing reaching as high as £156.70. In the United States, the highest pre-order listing is going for $168 (£127.17).

Pre-Order Prices and Availability

GTA 6 pre-orders opened last week, and despite earlier concerns about cost, the pricing is in line with other AAA titles. The standard edition retails at £69.99 in the UK, while the Ultimate Edition costs £89.99. Physical copies come with a download code rather than a disc, marking an all-digital launch. Despite this, scalpers are reselling pre-orders on eBay, and some buyers are actually purchasing them. One code was sold for $120 (£90.85) last week, which is $40 above the standard US price.

No Reason to Pay Inflated Prices

According to the report, there is absolutely no need to buy GTA 6 at these higher prices. Digital pre-orders are available directly through the PlayStation and Microsoft stores, and boxed copies can be ordered from retailers such as Amazon, Currys, and Argos with plenty of stock. The practice of reselling games before release is common for limited special editions, but GTA 6 is a digital game with no risk of selling out.
