Casemiro and his wife Anna were visibly emotional in a farewell video released by Manchester United, as the Brazilian midfielder departed the club upon the expiry of his contract. The 34-year-old struggled to contain his tears while reflecting on his four-year spell at Old Trafford, during which he made 160 appearances and won two trophies.
Emotional Farewell Video
In the video, teammates including Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, and Diogo Dalot paid tribute to Casemiro before he and Anna delivered their own messages. "I need to say thank you because it was four unbelievable years," Casemiro said, wiping away tears. "I love this club, the fans, the people. Thank you so much. It's very special and emotional for me."
Anna acknowledged the difficulty of the decision for their family. "As a family, we talked a lot and had to make this difficult decision," she said. "But I think it feels like the end of a very beautiful chapter. His chant feels like a declaration of love for him. For us, there's an emptiness in leaving."
Casemiro's Manchester United Legacy
Casemiro joined United in 2022 from Real Madrid and quickly became a fan favourite. He helped the club secure the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, and his final appearance was a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford in May. Throughout his tenure, supporters frequently chanted "one more year" to show their affection.
Move to Inter Miami
Casemiro has agreed to join Inter Miami on a free transfer after his World Cup commitments with Brazil. He is set to reunite with former Barcelona star Lionel Messi, forming a formidable midfield alongside Rodrigo De Paul, Luis Suarez, and Sergio Reguilon. Inter Miami had to negotiate with LA Galaxy for his MLS discovery rights, but a verbal agreement is in place to clear the path for the transfer.
Casemiro is expected to replace Sergio Busquets, who retired at the end of 2025 after leading Inter Miami to the MLS Cup. The Brazilian will begin his MLS journey when club football resumes after the World Cup.
International Duty
On the international stage, Casemiro featured in Brazil's 1-1 draw with Morocco before being substituted at half-time. He played the full 90 minutes in a 3-0 win over Haiti last Saturday and is expected to start against Scotland on Wednesday night at 11pm.
