Adolescence Boss Makes Netflix Comeback with Stranger Things Icons
Adolescence Boss Returns to Netflix with Stranger Things Stars

Jack Thorne, the co-creator of Netflix's hit series Adolescence, is reuniting with the streaming platform for a new spy thriller that brings together two beloved stars from Stranger Things. David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown, who portrayed Jim Hopper and Eleven in the sci-fi phenomenon, will play estranged father and daughter in the untitled series, which has been given a straight-to-series order by Netflix.

Father-Daughter Dynamic Returns in Spy Thriller

The series is loosely based on Paul Warner's debut novel A Spy in the Blood. Harbour will play Matt Wolfe, a disgraced FBI agent turned security expert, while Brown stars as Rebecca, his estranged daughter who works as an FBI agent. The plot kicks into gear when Rebecca vanishes during a mission, forcing Matt back into a field that has evolved beyond him.

This marks the third collaboration between Harbour and Brown, following their iconic roles in Stranger Things and the 2022 film The Electric State. According to Netflix, the series will explore a complex father-daughter relationship, mirroring the bond between Hopper and Eleven but with a fresh, high-stakes twist.

Jack Thorne's Unmatched Thriller Craft

Jinny Howe, Netflix's Head of Scripted Series for the US and Canada, praised Thorne's ability to blend human drama with thriller elements. “Jack Thorne's ability to find the deeply human story inside a thriller is unmatched, and watching Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour reunite – this time as estranged father and daughter on opposite sides of a crisis – is something audiences are going to love,” Howe said in a statement.

Thorne is known for his work on His Dark Materials and the Enola Holmes franchise, in addition to Adolescence. The new series adds to his growing portfolio of high-profile Netflix projects.

Harbour and Brown Express Excitement

Harbour teased the collaboration in an interview with Variety, saying, “You'll see more of me and Millie. 10 years wasn't enough. There is a special bond there. I love her, she loves me.” Brown echoed the sentiment on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, stating, “Father-daughter is where we live, but Netflix will always be our home. The David Harbour project is sooner than expected, and it's David's idea, so kudos to him.”

The series has not yet announced a release date. Both Adolescence and Stranger Things are currently available to stream on Netflix.
