Newcastle United's final home fixture of the season against West Ham United today will mark the last occasion at least one player dons the black and white shirt at St James' Park.
Confirmed Departures
Kieran Trippier will leave the club this summer when his contract expires after four-and-a-half years of loyal service. Newcastle have also confirmed that Emil Krafth will depart for the same reason, though the Swedish international has no chance of featuring due to injury.
Uncertain Futures
While their futures away from Tyneside are certain, elsewhere uncertainty lingers. Mirror Football examines several such situations below.
Anthony Gordon
Bayern Munich are understood to have an interest in Anthony Gordon, and the England international has now gone more than a month without playing, despite recovering from a hip injury. Eddie Howe cited "looking to next year" as a partial explanation for the 25-year-old remaining an unused substitute in Newcastle's last two matches, having missed the two before that entirely. The manager also acknowledged that talks over a summer transfer "potentially might be happening," with Bayern Munich among the clubs credited with an interest in Gordon ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. Nevertheless, there is a possibility that he will feature today.
Joe Willock
Several Newcastle players will enter the final year of their contracts this summer, with Joe Willock among them. Having endured another season drifting in and out of the starting XI, a departure this summer would come as little surprise, rather than risk losing the midfielder for nothing in twelve months. Newcastle almost certainly missing out on UEFA competition next season would only further limit Willock's playing time. Europe provided his standout moment this campaign, netting an equaliser against Paris Saint-Germain; however, that remains his solitary goal across all competitions, with just two assists to his name.
Kieran Trippier
Newcastle confirmed Kieran Trippier's forthcoming exit last month and, after a recent late substitute appearance against Nottingham Forest, another could follow at St James' Park. Making the announcement publicly in advance guarantees an emotional farewell with supporters after the final whistle, leaving no room for uncertainty. The former skipper has featured sporadically throughout the spring, but Howe will surely afford Trippier some time on the pitch to honour his dedication since his arrival from Atletico Madrid. The 35-year-old is yet to reveal what lies ahead as he faces free agency this summer.
Nick Pope
Aaron Ramsdale and Nick Pope have shared Newcastle's goalkeeping duties this season, despite the very real possibility that neither stopper will remain on Tyneside next term. Pope is currently the first choice, having recently reclaimed his spot, but is yet another player whose contract runs out next year. Neither has particularly distinguished himself throughout the campaign, and it remains unclear whether Newcastle will take up their option to sign Ramsdale permanently from Southampton. A fresh goalkeeper should be a priority on Tyneside this summer, meaning Pope could well be another player bidding farewell to the St James' Park faithful.
Sandro Tonali
Missing out on Champions League qualification inevitably has significant consequences for who stays and who departs this summer. Sandro Tonali is a name consistently linked with other clubs, and following this season, that speculation looks set to gather further momentum. Bruno Guimaraes is another, though of the two, Newcastle's skipper appears the more likely to stick around. Arsenal are actively seeking midfield reinforcements, and rumours briefly emerged on transfer deadline day earlier this year regarding a last-minute move to north London for the Italian international. With Newcastle absent from European competition, fresh interest could easily resurface.
