Walkers has revealed the two finalists in its Do Us A Flavour competition: Salt & Pepper Chicken and Grilled Cheese & Chilli Jam. The limited-edition crisps will arrive in supermarkets later this summer, and the public will decide which flavour becomes a permanent addition to the Walkers range.
Inspired by takeaway and comfort food
Salt & Pepper Chicken crisps draw inspiration from the popular Chinese takeaway dish, combining garlic, spring onion, black pepper, and aromatic Chinese-inspired spices. Grilled Cheese & Chilli Jam brings together the rich flavour of melted cheese with a sweet and spicy chilli jam twist.
Both flavours were chosen from thousands of public submissions in the Do Us A Flavour campaign, which invited crisp lovers to submit their dream flavour ideas. The competition has been running for several weeks, with entries ranging from nostalgic classics to bold mash-ups.
Creators behind the flavours
Lydia Houghton from Malmesbury created the Salt & Pepper Chicken flavour. In her TikTok submission, she described it as 'delicious chicken-flavoured crisps, perfectly seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, chilli, and onion. Packed with flavour, right to the bottom of the bag.'
Becky Dibble proposed Grilled Cheese & Chilli Jam, explaining, 'I think the balance of sweet, salty, and spicy will go so well in a crisp flavour.'
How the winner is decided
Each pack of limited-edition crisps sold counts as a vote for that flavour. The flavour with the most sales will earn a permanent spot in the Walkers core range, alongside classics like Prawn Cocktail and Cheese & Onion. The creator of the winning flavour will receive a cash prize of up to £500,000.
The flavours have been promoted through a TikTok series on the Walkers account, with social media influencers GK Barry and Moyo Ajibade championing the finalists.

This announcement follows Walkers’ release of three World Cup-inspired flavours: English Bangers & Mash, Wavy Spanish Queso, and Max Portuguese Chorizo and Onion. The Do Us A Flavour campaign continues Walkers’ tradition of engaging the public in product development.
