The Trafford Centre has confirmed the closure of its Vans store, with plans underway for a new brand to take over the unit. The shopping destination says it will announce new arrivals soon.
Vans Exit
American brand Vans, founded in 1966, has closed its shop inside the centre. The brand is known for its waffle-pattern rubber shoes and clothing inspired by skating, surfing, and streetwear scenes. The Upper Regent Crescent store is now listed as 'closed' on the Vans website, with the centre confirming the closure today.
The store stocked shoes, outerwear, shirts, and accessories. Vans items will still be available at other Trafford Centre retailers, including Footasylum and the 'world's largest' JD Sports, which opened in June last year and spans 41,000 sq ft.
New Brands Incoming
A Trafford Centre spokesperson said: “We’re always working hard to bring new and exciting brands to Trafford Centre, offering our visitors the best possible experience. We’re in discussion with a number of retailers who are keen to have a store at Trafford Centre. We’ll be in a position to announce new brands soon, including a store that’s taking over the former Vans unit.”
This week, the centre welcomed Manchester pizzeria Forbici, praised by chef Marco Pierre White and rapper Example. Forbici opened its second Greater Manchester restaurant on August 5, giving away 1,000 free pizzas to mark the occasion.
Other recent openings include Shake Shack, Bunsik, and Frurt. The £6m all-pink P. Louise City store opened last month, and a pop-up from Spud Bros was hosted.
The Trafford Centre will hold a special Emergency Services Day this week, featuring around 50 emergency service vehicles and characters from children's TV shows. A giant summer fair with a beach runs until the end of August.
Later this year, Ted Baker and The Entertainer will open new stores, and the Disney Store is set to return with a new setup inside Selfridges. Vans has been approached for comment.
