Uber Offers Free Dua Lipa-Style Wedding Transport in Glasgow

Uber is launching a limited-edition luxury wedding service called Hitch 'N' Ride in Glasgow this month, offering free open-top convertible chauffeur pickups directly from registry office steps to reception venues. The service is designed for newlyweds who want maximum style with minimal fuss on their special day.

Service Details and Availability

The service will be available from August 28 to August 31 across the UK, with tickets to book going live on the site at 10am on August 24. The limited-edition Uber ride costs £20 per car booking but is fully refundable after the experience. Included is a paparazzi-style entrance and post-ceremony pickup for the newlyweds and up to two witnesses, delivered by expert chauffeurs.

Onboard celebrations are also included, with a chilled bottle of premium sparkling wine ready for the drive between the registry and the reception. Vehicles offered include a Bentley GTC and BMW 420i.

Rise of the 'Anti-Bride' Era

New research by Uber reveals 72 per cent of couples experience severe stress leading up to their big day, with two in five (42 per cent) admitting the pressure became so overwhelming that they considered scrapping their wedding altogether. Inspired by registry-office celebrities like Dua Lipa and Charli xcx, many couples now want to strip back the fuss of a big ceremony for a more low-key town hall celebration.

However, the study found that 72 per cent of brides still want that high-fashion glamorous paparazzi moment on the town hall steps.

Cost Savings and Budget Reallocation

The rise of more laid-back wedding ceremonies comes as town hall couples say cutting the traditional guest list saved them an average of £2,171 in venue and catering costs. They are choosing to reallocate that budget to other things in their life—for example, 28 per cent are putting it toward house deposits, while 22 per cent are prioritising dream honeymoons.

Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UK, said: "At Uber, we believe showing up for our riders matters, whether it's for the everyday or one of life's biggest moments. For couples saying 'I do' at their local town hall, HITCH 'N' RIDE makes getting to the celebration easier, while adding a little extra magic to the journey."
