TG Jones Inverness Store to Close in October with 'Everything Must Go' Sale
TG Jones Inverness Store to Close in October

TG Jones has confirmed that its Inverness High Street store will close permanently on October 6, 2026, with a closing down sale now in progress. Yellow banners covering the shop windows read: "Store closing down. Sale starts tomorrow, this store only - everything must go!"

The store, which previously operated as a WH Smith branch, has been trading as TG Jones since last year. The change followed the sale of WH Smith's High Street business to Modella Capital in a £75 million deal.

Court-Approved Restructuring Plan

The closure is part of a court-approved restructuring plan that TG Jones is implementing to secure the long-term future of the business. A spokesperson for TG Jones said: "As we work to secure the long-term future of TG Jones, we have confirmed that our Inverness shop will close. We know this will be disappointing news for our colleagues, customers, and the local community."

The spokesperson added: "Our focus now is on supporting those affected and continuing to serve customers throughout the closure period. We would like to thank all of our colleagues for their commitment and the contribution they have made to TG Jones."

Impact on Inverness High Street

The closure marks the loss of another High Street shop for the city, following the previous closures of Costa Coffee, M&Co and Keepsakes on the same street. Customers in Inverness will still be able to shop with TG Jones via nearby stores or through the retailer's official website.

Shoppers have approximately seven weeks to take advantage of the sale, with the retailer stating that everything in the store must go. The announcement comes after TG Jones revealed plans in May to axe 180 stores across the UK.
