With the Easter bank holiday approaching, Tesco's wine aisle offers a wide selection, from organic bottles to award-winning labels. Shoppers can also take advantage of Clubcard deals, including 25% off when buying six or more bottles from a selected range.
Wine expert Tom Gilbey, known as 'The Wine Guy' on Instagram, recommends the Tesco Finest Organic Rueda Verdejo for white wine. He describes it as 'a gob full of green, grassy energy' with crisp citrus and floral notes, perfect for spring. Luke Flunder, another wine influencer, suggests the Tesco Finest Greek Assyrtiko, calling it 'a cracking expression of this Greek grape, crisp and mineral'.
For red wine, Gilbey picks the Tesco Finest Vina del Cura Rioja Gran Reserva, praising its 'lashings of spicy, soft oak with plenty of creamy, plum like fruit', ideal for pairing with spring lamb. Flunder recommends the Tesco Finest Ribera del Duero, noting its 'dark black fruits up front and plenty of complexity'.
In rosé, Flunder favours La P'tite Pierre rosé for its 'light, delicate, with a refreshing streak of red berry', while Gilbey opts for Mirabeau Pure Provence rosé, calling it 'zesty, zippy and refreshing' with strawberry and citrus notes. Both experts agree on fizz: the Graham Beck Selection sparkling wine from South Africa, which Flunder says has 'all the hallmarks of a far pricier cuvée' and Gilbey hails as possibly 'the best value sparkling wine on our shelves'.
