New research from FootballGroundGuide has calculated the full cost of attending every away match in the 2026/27 Premier League season, using the fixed £30 away ticket price plus estimated travel costs by car, train or supporters' coach.
Sunderland fans face biggest bill
Sunderland supporters face the biggest bill at £3,941.61. Travel alone is estimated at £3,371.61 across 19 matches due to the club's North-East location. Bournemouth are close behind at £3,853.61, with Newcastle third on £3,606.82.
Four of the five most expensive clubs sit outside the traditional footballing heartlands of the Midlands and North West.
Ipswich Town and Bournemouth among priciest
Newly promoted Ipswich Town sit surprisingly high in fourth at £3,238.11. East Anglian isolation forces Tractor Boys fans into lengthy trips for almost every away game. South-coast supporters of Bournemouth face long journeys pushing travel costs to £3,283.61.
London clubs cheapest for away travel
At the other end, Crystal Palace are the cheapest at £2,273.66, narrowly ahead of Brentford and Tottenham. London clubs benefit from shorter journeys and the capital's rail network. Manchester United rank only 13th and Liverpool 10th — well clear of the top of the list.
