Sainsbury's Nectar points now earned on Uber Eats orders

Sainsbury's has widened its Nectar loyalty programme through an expanded partnership with Uber Eats. Shoppers ordering groceries from Sainsbury's via the Uber Eats app or website now earn one Nectar point for every £1 they spend, across more than 1,300 Sainsbury's stores in the UK.

Once earned, the points can be exchanged for rewards such as meals out and days out through the Nectar scheme. To build the balance, customers must enter their full Nectar card number at checkout when placing an order.

How the points are collected

Points cannot be claimed after a purchase has been completed, and they are expected to appear in customers' Nectar accounts within 28 days. However, not every purchase qualifies.

No Nectar points are awarded on gift vouchers, baby milk products, lottery tickets, smoking-related products, medicines, alcohol or liqueurs.

Widening the existing Uber partnership

The change builds on the current partnership between Sainsbury's, Nectar and Uber, which already enables customers to redeem Nectar points for Uber rides and Uber Eats vouchers.

Katie Hunter, Uber Eats General Manager for Grocery & Retail in the UK, said: "We know how much Uber Eats customers love Nectar, so bringing points directly to their Sainsbury’s orders was a no-brainer."

Hunter added: "Now, they can collect Nectar points on all their Sainsbury's essentials as well as spending them across the entire Uber app. It’s all about delivering flexibility, convenience, and value for customers right alongside their favourite groceries."

Mark Given, Sainsbury’s Chief Technology, Marketing and Data Officer, said: "We’re creating even more ways for people to get great value from Nectar through our partnership with Uber."

Given added: "Nectar members can already turn their points into Uber rides or Uber Eats treats - and now they can collect points when ordering Sainsbury’s groceries through Uber Eats too."

"It’s another way we’re helping customers get more from Nectar, whether they’re stocking up on essentials, planning dinner or making everyday life that little bit easier."
