Pepsi Zero Sugar Gingerbread, a limited edition festive flavour, has returned to Aldi and other supermarkets, where it will remain available until December 31. The soft drink is stocked in 2L bottles priced at £2.15 and eight-can multipacks priced at £6.89.
The flavour combines the traditional sugar free Pepsi taste with cinnamon, vanilla and ginger. Social media account New Foods UK spotted the beverage in Aldi this week, and shoppers have responded enthusiastically, with one customer reporting having bought 32 cans.
Back by popular demand
Pepsi's parent company, Carlsberg Britvic, confirmed the drink's comeback, stating online: "Pepsi is kicking off the festive season by bringing back Pepsi Zero Sugar Gingerbread flavour into the convenience and wholesale channels." The company added that the festive favourite is "back by popular demand following last year's limited-edition run" and is helping retailers "tap into the key Christmas period."
One shopper commented: "I still have a can left from last time they were out. Took me months to find a shop selling it. Will have to look in Aldi next time I go in." Another declared: "It's so nice! So glad they are back!" A fourth Instagram user said: "I need to try it."
Expanding into convenience stores
David Laidler, Brand Director of Carbonates at Carlsberg Britvic, said of the release: "After the popularity of Pepsi Zero Sugar Gingerbread last year, we knew we had to bring it back even bigger, making it available to more shoppers by expanding into convenience stores."
Mr Laidler continued: "We know there is a real demand for new flavours, seasonal treats and affordable indulgence, so its expansion into convenience gives retailers an opportunity to create some festive cheer in-store and encourage shoppers to pick up a can or bottle over the Christmas season." He also mentioned a competition aimed at celebrating customers during the busy festive period.
