Oseyo to Open Biggest UK Store in Newcastle's Eldon Square This Month
Oseyo Opens Largest UK Store in Newcastle's Eldon Square

Korean brand Oseyo is set to open its largest UK store in Newcastle's Eldon Square by the end of this month, transforming the former Waitrose premises into an immersive Asian supermarket destination. The store, located in St George's Way, has been vacant since Waitrose closed in 2022, but will now house Oseyo's biggest supermarket to date.

What the New Store Offers

Oseyo Newcastle will bring together viral Korean snacks, Asian groceries, fresh produce, beauty products, and lifestyle items. Highlights include the much-loved Ramyun Library with an extensive noodle collection, Japanese arcade claw machines at the entrance, two Korean-style photobooths (one diner-themed, one underwater-themed), the brand's largest Korean cosmetics area, and its biggest fresh produce range yet. A dedicated packing area will allow customers to use recycled boxes for sustainable shopping.

First North-East Store

This marks Oseyo's first opening in the North-East. Helen Cowie, Centre Director at Eldon Square, said: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Oseyo’s largest store to date at Eldon Square, especially as the opening will mark the brands first arrival to the North-East. There’s already so much anticipation building around the opening, with VIP goodie bags and tasting demos available, along with an extensive product range.”

Isaac Kweon, Operations Director at Oseyo, added: “Opening in Newcastle is a huge milestone for Oseyo, marking two major milestones for the brand with its first North-East store and largest supermarket to date. We’re thrilled to be joining Eldon Square and bringing Oseyo to the heart of the city.”

Immersive Experience

The store is designed as an immersive destination beyond traditional supermarkets, combining authentic Korean food, beauty, and lifestyle products with engaging in-store activities. Customers can enjoy photobooths, claw machines, and a wide range of fresh produce and ice cream. Kweon stated: “We want Oseyo Newcastle to be the ultimate all-in-one destination for the whole community, whether customers are visiting for their weekly shop, discovering new products, trying our fresh produce and ice cream, or enjoying the photobooths and claw machines. We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome everyone in.”
