Original Blues clothing firm enters liquidation after 40 years

UK clothing manufacturer Original Blues, which has been producing men's and ladies' cotton knitwear since 1985, has entered voluntary liquidation. The company, known for its unique and exclusive knitwear, passed resolutions at a general meeting on June 4 to wind up the business voluntarily.

Liquidation Process

Liquidation is a legal procedure that formally dissolves a company. It typically involves selling off the firm's assets to generate funds, which are then used to repay outstanding debts to creditors and shareholders. Umang Patel of Neum Insolvency has been appointed as the liquidator to oversee the winding-up of Original Blues.

Company Background

Original Blues' website states: 'Our aim is to make you feel and look great all year round, wearing our unique and exclusive knitwear. Original Blues knitwear is expertly crafted, offering a beautiful selection of flattering styles, using the softest, most comfortable and luxurious natural yarns in appealing and versatile colours.' Every piece in the collection is created by its in-house design team, drawing inspiration from the natural world, particularly nautical and marine themes.

The company offers a wide range of colours, including a special range of genuine Indigo colours. 'Our Indigo collection perfectly depicts the subtle variations of movement, fluidity and colour of the sea, thanks to the unique qualities of the authentic indigo dying process,' the website adds. 'Recognised for its 'living colour', each strand of this fabulously dynamic yarn reflects the light individually, giving the timeless, classic appearance of denim fabric, but in a knitted piece.'

This news follows reports that UK fashion retailer Leading Labels is closing all its stores after entering liquidation, with clearance sales underway across its 15 remaining locations.
