Raj Tandoori, an Indian restaurant in Newcastle that has served the city for decades, has reassured customers it remains open for business after being listed for sale earlier this year. The property is currently on the market for £299,950.
Long-standing venue put up for sale
The restaurant, located down Pudding Chare near the Bigg Market, was first listed in March with an asking price of £325,000. That figure has since been reduced to its current level. Long-standing owners Noor and Ahad Miah have announced their retirement, prompting the sale.
While newer curry houses have opened in Newcastle city centre, including Mowgli on Nelson Street, Kiss inside The Gate, and Chit n Chaat in Eldon Square, Raj Tandoori remains a favourite among locals for its warm surroundings, service, and food.
Business as usual
Despite the uncertainty over future ownership, the restaurant has moved to reassure regulars. In a Facebook post, it stated: 'We are still open!' and reminded customers that food is served from 5pm Monday to Friday and from 5.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
The post drew a warm response from customers, with one commenting: 'Best curry house in Newcastle, been going for years' and another adding: 'Our favourite restaurant, has been for years.'
