Newcastle Restaurant Week August 2026: 121 Venues Listed

Newcastle Restaurant Week is set to return from 3rd to 9th August 2026, with a record 121 participating venues offering discounted set menus. The bi-annual event, first launched by NE1 in 2011, aims to boost footfall during traditionally quiet periods.

Format and Economic Impact

Participating restaurants offer two- or three-course menus priced at £15, £20, or £25 per person. According to NE1, each Restaurant Week generates an estimated £1 million boost to the local economy. Rachel Fenwick, Head of Marketing and Events at NE1, stated: "Newcastle is famed for its hospitality scene nationally and internationally, and it plays a huge part in shaping the city’s unique character, as well as being one of the region’s largest employers." She added that the event guarantees hours for hundreds of restaurant workers, transforming quiet periods into busy ones.

First-Time Participants and Booking Advice

SOKU is among the newcomers. Lawrence Norman, restaurateur at SOKU, commented: "Restaurant Week feels like an essential part of the Newcastle food scene. As first-time participants and only a year into opening SOKU, we’re still introducing ourselves to the North East. This is a brilliant opportunity to let people know we’re here and to share the great dishes and service we have to offer."

Deals vary by venue; some upscale restaurants offer the £25 menu as a significant discount. Organisers urge early booking as slots fill quickly. Diners should check specific terms such as booking times or menu availability before visiting.
