Marks and Spencer's £1.25 stain remover wipes have proven their effectiveness in a real-world test, with a journalist removing a stubborn berry stain from a bouclé cushion in just 25 seconds.
Writer Puts M&S Wipes to the Test
Journalist Abigail Nicholson, who shares her home with a toddler, decided to test the widely praised M&S stain remover wipes after a strawberry juice stain appeared on a bouclé bench cushion. The stain occurred when she gave her daughter a snack while preparing for a day out.
Nicholson captured the entire stain removal process on video, demonstrating that the vivid red mark was completely eliminated in just 25 seconds. She noted that bouclé stains can be particularly challenging due to the fabric's textured loops that trap spills deeply, and its delicate construction prone to water rings and snagging.
Product Features and Ingredients
According to the M&S website, the wipes are suitable for vegans and vegetarians and are 'specially formulated with plant-based and biodegradable ingredients to work on a variety of surfaces, lifting marks without damage'. The product description adds: 'These sustainable wipes are made in the UK with a bespoke fragrance featuring almond and sweet orange essential oils.'
The wipes foam around the affected area to shift stains with ease, making them a convenient addition to handbags, backpacks, or kitchen cupboards. At just £1.25 per pack, they are no larger than a packet of baby wipes.
Convenience for Busy Families
Nicholson highlighted the impracticality of carrying traditional stain removers like white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, or bleach when out and about. The M&S wipes offer a portable solution for families dealing with frequent spills from children or pets.
