McDonald's restaurants in Washington, Tyne and Wear, are offering free food and drinks from a renamed Saver Menu for one hour on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, to celebrate hometown hero Jordan Pickford's record-breaking achievement as England's most-capped player in FIFA World Cup history.
Free items from the 'Saved Menu'
Between 5pm and 6pm, customers can claim one free item from the “Saved Menu” at the McDonald's branches in The Galleries Shopping Centre and The Peel Centre - Washington Retail Park. The menu has been temporarily renamed from the Saver Menu to honor Pickford's crucial saves that helped England reach the World Cup semi-final after a 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway.
Available free items include the Double Cheeseburger (usually £2.49), Milkshakes (£2.19), and both Oreo and Smarties Mini McFlurry (£1.59). Additionally, the restaurants will distribute limited-edition cold cups featuring stickers of Pickford's famous penalty prediction “cheat sheet”.
Local pride and celebration
Jasper Maudsley, owner of the Washington restaurants, said: “We’re all incredibly proud of the England team and of course our hometown hero keeper! To see a local lad that grew up here in Washington not only help England to a World Cup Semi-Final but also become our most capped player in the tournament’s history, is a hugely proud moment for the area. The McDonald’s Saved Menu is our way of saying thank you and giving back to the fans on such a huge occasion for all the country. Come on England!”
The promotion is a one-day-only event centered on Washington, the town that shaped England's most-capped FIFA World Cup 26 goalkeeper, as fans prepare for the evening's semi-final match.
Nationwide offer for match day
For fans across the country, McDonald's is extending its Buy One Big Mac and Get One Free offer for Wednesday's game via McDelivery between 5pm and midnight, providing a match-day deal for supporters watching from home.
