Manchester United have received a £38 million transfer boost from the sale of Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli, as manager Michael Carrick prepares for a busy summer window. The club have already made significant savings by offloading high earners, including Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia, whose contracts expired.
Hojlund Departure Secures £38m Fee
Earlier this month, United confirmed Hojlund's permanent move to Napoli after a loan spell. The Serie A side triggered a €44 million (£38m) purchase clause after qualifying for the Champions League. The fee provides immediate financial flexibility for new signings.
Ederson Deal Agreed but Not Official
United have struck a £35 million deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with an additional £3.8 million in add-ons. While not yet official, the transfer is expected to be announced soon, strengthening Carrick's midfield options for the Champions League return.
Wage Bill Slashed by Departures
Casemiro, Sancho and Malacia left as free agents, removing substantial wages from the club's books. This financial breathing room allows United to pursue multiple targets without breaching spending rules. Marcus Rashford could also leave, despite Barcelona declining a £26 million option.
Midfield Targets Identified
West Ham's Mateus Fernandes is a key target, valued at £80 million, but faces competition from Arsenal and Tottenham. Teammate Crysencio Summerville is also on the radar, with a £50 million price tag. United are expected to add at least two midfielders before the window closes.
