Shopping writer Beth Mahoney has tested the LookFantastic 12 Days Of K-Beauty Advent Calendar, which costs £50 and is said by the retailer to be worth £140. The calendar contains 12 beauty products presented in a chiffon-style bag, with each item in a numbered silver cardboard box.
LookFantastic describes the calendar as “a curation of 12 innovative K-Beauty icons, all in a gift-wrapped bag”. It features brands including Laneige, Anua and Medicube, with a mix of full-size and deluxe mini skincare, haircare and wellness products.
Value and packaging
Mahoney, who has reviewed beauty advent calendars for five years, said the price point was a major pro. Although it is a 12-day rather than a 24-day calendar, she called the value “fantastic” and praised the array of products inside. She also noted the reduced packaging as a positive for those looking to cut waste, though she added it may not suit shoppers wanting a traditional boxed calendar.
For comparison, the Boots 24 Days of Luxe Beauty Advent Calendar is available for £150 and, according to Boots, is worth £706.99, with items from Huda Beauty, Clinique, Benefit, MAC and Rituals. Sephora’s Collection Advent Calendar costs £59.99 and, according to Sephora, is worth £179, containing 24 items.
Shopper reactions
Shoppers have largely praised the calendar. One said: “I like the minimalist packaging. It’s also great value.” Another added: “Received as a gift and absolutely over the moon.” A third commented: “It’s £50 for SO many amazing K-Beauty products - that value is absolutely insane. I even got mine for £45 with a discount code, so it was an even better deal.”
However, some were unhappy with the packaging. One shopper said: “Very disappointing packaging. Comes in a sheer bag, the boxes are all jumbled up and you have to really look to spot the numbers. A couple of boxes were partially opened.” Another defended the calendar, saying: “I’m super happy with my purchase. I don't understand the negative reviews over the packaging. It's not like the description doesn't tell you what you're getting and how it's packaged.”
