Lidl is set to launch a new range of Special Buy deals this Sunday, August 23, including a Ladies’ Red Sweatshirt priced at £7.99. The supermarket updates its Middle Aisle offerings every Thursday and Sunday, and the latest batch features fashion staples that resemble more expensive high-end versions.
Lidl’s £8 Sweatshirt vs. Selfridges and Next
Lidl’s Esmara Ladies’ Red Sweatshirt costs £7.99 and is available in small, medium, or large. The product description states: “Made with soft viscose. High collar with zip. Relaxed fit. With Creora Elastane for shape retention.”
Selfridges sells Varley’s Hawley Half-Zip Stretch-Woven Sweatshirt for £114, which shares a similar design to Lidl’s but costs significantly more. The Selfridges sweater comes in a similar colour, is cuffed at the bottom seam and sleeve ends, and has a zip fastening at the front, though the zip is gold instead of silver. The product description adds: “Exposed zip fastening at front. Relaxed fit, high neck, long sleeves, half-zip, ribbed trims. Machine wash cold. True to size. Midweight, slight stretch.”
Another similar option is available at Next for £57, reduced from £105. The Next store sells a Varley Sassafras Marl Half Zip Hawley Sweatshirt in a dark red/plum colour with a silver half-zip at the front and cuffs at the sleeves and bottom. The product description reads: “An elevated alternative to the classic sweat in signature DoubleSoft fabric, Betsy is your oversized wardrobe staple.”
Next also offers a set of two Half Zip Funnel Neck Sweatshirts in berry and light pink for £30, meaning each sweater costs £15, still more than Lidl’s £8 alternative.
Other Clothing Items in Lidl’s Sunday Launch
Lidl is releasing the Esmara Ladies’ Trench Coat for £14.99 for Lidl Plus app users and £17.99 for others, available in beige, khaki, and black. The supermarket says trench coats are suitable for summer and autumn due to light, breathable fabrics and a comfortable fit.
Lidl is also launching Ladies’ Leather Clogs for £7.99. The supermarket states: “Leather upper, lining and footbed for extra comfort. Anatomically shaped footbed. Adjustable buckles for a secure fit. Lightweight EVA sole. Sizes: 4-7.5.”
Additionally, the Ladies’ Red Extra Soft Trousers are priced at £6.99. The store says: “Made with soft, comfortable viscose. With an elasticated waistband, side pockets and decorative stitching. Straight cut and normal rise. With Creora Elastane for shape retention. Sizes: S-L.”
