Lidl Cornflakes Beat Kellogg's in Taste Test Showdown
Lidl Cornflakes Beat Kellogg's in Taste Test

A comparative taste test of supermarket cornflakes against Kellogg's Corn Flakes has crowned Lidl's 95p box as the winner, with the budget cereal matching the branded product in both appearance and flavour.

The test, conducted by Mia O'Hare, sampled cornflakes from Asda, Tesco, Lidl, Aldi and Marks and Spencer, assessing each against Kellogg's for taste and cost. The cereals were tried both dry and with milk to experience their full flavour.

Supermarket Rivals Ranked

Asda's cornflakes, priced at £1.15, came last with a rating of 5/10. Despite looking indistinguishable from other supermarket versions, they were found to be less sweet and less crunchy than Kellogg's, with a dry texture.

Tesco, Marks and Spencer, and Aldi all scored 7/10. Tesco's cornflakes were crispy and less dry than Asda's, with a paler appearance. Marks and Spencer offered a balanced texture but less sweetness, while Aldi delivered a satisfying crunch but fell short on sweetness.

Kellogg's and the Winner

Kellogg's Corn Flakes, priced at £2.45 from Asda, scored 9/10. The branded cereal struck an ideal balance between sweet and savoury, with the right amount of crunch.

Lidl's cornflakes, also 95p, scored a perfect 10/10. The cereal was noticeably darker than other supermarket versions, closely mirroring Kellogg's appearance. It replicated the brand's flavour and texture perfectly, making it the clear winner for its combination of taste and value.
